PROCESSION

antiphon, tone 1:  In the day when the Lord cometh for the judgment, to judge the world in His majesty, there shall stand round about Him all the assemblies of the heavenly virtues, the choirs of the saints, of the patriarchs and the prophets, the glory of the apostles, the number of martyrs, of confessors, and of the virgins. There all the peoples shall be present, struck with great fear before such great majesty, and before the Lord. O that day, a day of wrath, a day of tribulation, a day of misery and requital, a day of trumpet and of clamor, a day of cloud and thick darkness! O that day, exceeding bitter shall it be for the ungodly. O how happy they shall be, who are found worthy to hear the voice of the Lord: "O come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom which hath been prepared for you from the beginning of the world."

responsory at the re-entry into the sanctuary, tone 1:  Joseph, speaking to his brethren, said: | 'Peace be with you; fear not; for the Lord sent me before you, for your salvation.'
     V. He lifted up his voice with weeping, which the Egyptians and all the house of Pharao heard, and he said unto his brethren:
     Peace be with you...

V. With a shield will His truth encompass thee.
R. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night.

Let us pray.  Collect of the day, below.

HOLY MASS

Officium, tone 7:  Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He it is that will draw my feet out of the snare. Look upon me and have mercy on me, for I am one only begotten and poor.
     V. Unto Thee, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul : O my God, in Thee have I trusted; let me never be put to shame.
     Mine eyes...
Glory to the Father... As it was...
Mine eyes...

Epistle.  A reading from the epistle of blessed Paul the apostle to the Ephesians. Brethren: Be ye followers of God, as most dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath delivered Himself for us, an oblation and a sacrifice to God for an odor of sweetness. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not so much as be named among you, as becometh saints: or obscenity, or foolish talking, or scurrility, which is to no purpose; but rather giving of thanks. For know ye this and understand, that no fornicator, or unclean, or covetous person (which is a serving of idols), hath inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words. For because of these things cometh the anger of God upon the children of unbelief. Be ye not therefore partakers with them. For ye were heretofore darkness, but now light in the Lord. Walk then as children of the light. For the fruit of the light is in all goodness, and justice, and truth.  [Eph 5:1-9]

Graduale, tone 3:  Arise, O Lord, let not man prevail; let the nations be judged before Thee.
V. When mine enemy be turned back, they shall grow weak and shall perish before Thy face.
     Arise, O Lord...

Tract, tone 8:  Unto Thee have I lifted up mine eyes, unto Thee that dwellest in heaven.
     V.  Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hands of their masters.
     V.  As the eyes of the handmaid look unto the hands of her mistress.
     V.  So do our eyes look unto the Lord our God, until He take pity on us.
     V.  Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us.

Gospel
V. The Lord be with you.
R. And with thy spirit.
V. The continuation of the holy gospel according to Matthew.
R. Glory to Thee, O Lord.
At that time Jesus was casting out a devil, and the same was dumb: and when He had cast out the devil, the dumb spake: and the multitudes were in admiration at it: But some of them said: He casteth out devils by Beelzebub, the prince of devils. And others tempting, asked of Him a sign from heaven. But He seeing their thoughts, said to them: Every kingdom divided against itself, shall be brought to desolation, and house upon house shall fall. And if Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? Because ye say, that through Beelzebub I cast out devils. Now if I cast out devils by Beelzebub; by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. But if I by the finger of God cast out devils; doubtless the kingdom of God is come upon you. When a strong man, armed, keepeth his court, those things are in peace which he possesseth. But if a stronger than he come upon him, and overcome him; he will take away all his armor wherein he trusted, and will distribute his spoils. He that is not with me, is against me; and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth. When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through places without water, seeking rest; and not finding, he saith: I will return into my house whence I came out. And when he is come, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then he goeth and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and entering in they dwell there. And the last state of that man becometh worse than the first. And it came to pass, as He spake these things, a certain woman from the crowd, lifting up her voice, said to him: Blessed is the womb that bore Thee, and the paps that gave Thee suck. But he said: Yea, rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep it.  [Lk 11:14-28]

[Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.]

Offerenda, tone 4:  The statutes of the Lord are upright, gladdening the heart, and sweeter than honey and the honeycomb; yea, for Thy servant keepeth them.
     V.  The commandment of the Lord is far-shining, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring for ever and ever; the judgments of the Lord are true.
     The statutes of the Lord...
     V.  And the sayings of my mouth shall be unto Thy good pleasure, and the meditation of my heart shall be before Thee forever.
     The statutes of the Lord...

Secret:  Receive the gifts of Thy devout servants and handmaidens, we beseech Thee, O Lord, and purify in Thy tender mercy us who serve Thy divine Mysteries, for by Them Thou dost make righteous even those that are ignorant. Through...

Preface:  ... everlasting God. That together with our body's abstinence, our mind also may turn away from lawless thoughts. And that which we refuse in fleshly feastings of a worldly appeal, may we cut off in the evil designs of our human will: that by means of mature fasting we may make ourselves worthy to partake piously and savingly of the Holy Things which are for the holy. The more grateful we are that They were appointed unto us, the more readily we shall make bold for Them to be with us and aid us unceasingly, through Christ our Lord. By Him angels praise Thy majesty...

Communio, tone 6:  The sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtledove a nest for herself, where she may lay her young: even Thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house; unto ages of ages shall they praise Thee.
     V.  How beloved are Thy dwellings, O Lord of hosts : my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord.
     The sparrow...
Glory to the Father... As it was...
The sparrow...
